Cape of Good Hope Rotary Club was excited to induct a new member on Tuesday 4 March.
Shadiya van den Berg who has been involved with the club for some time was presented with her Rotary badge and certificate.
Shadiya, who resides in the Netherlands, is married to fellow Rotarian, Marcel van den Berg, who is a member of Wateringen Club near The Hague.

The couple have been involved with the CoGH Club through dual fundraising initiatives, including the successful Billy Joel Experience Concert held in January this year.
Shadiya, a retired teacher, is thrilled to be part of this club. She said that it is important for her to still be connected to her roots in South Africa and to continue to make a difference here.
The couple who spend around three months at a time in South Africa, have been involved with Rotary CoGH since their first visit to the club in 2022.
“It just made sense for me to become an official member here in my home country while Marcel remains a Rotarian in his home country. I guess there’s now a marital and Rotarian synergy.”
